Mistreating Your Mother: Proverbs for the Young

Friday Assembly: Headmaster’s Address (September 30, 2016)

Proverbs 19:26
He who mistreats his father and chases away his mother
Is a son who causes shame and brings reproach.

edvard_munch_-_the_scream_-_google_art_project-1This week we learn another important lesson—do not mistreat you parents. This is Godly wisdom you need to hear—do not chase your mother away. I know some of you students really need to take this to heart. Do you fight over home work with your mother or father? Do you reject what they tell you when they offer help? How about crying and fussing and whining, saying you can’t do the work so that your parents get frustrated and just leave you alone? This is all shameful according to the Word of God. God calls us to honor our father and mother in the fifth commandment. Remember this proverb; let it sink into your heart and mind and change the way you act. Be a son who brings honor, not a son who brings shame and reproach.
