Some elementary Latin programs focus only on memorization of vocabulary and chants, but Paideia Latina seeks to have students understand how the Latin fits together and, what is perhaps more important, enjoy the language.
Level A was originally written for fourth graders, but it could be used successfully with fourth through sixth grade students. Ideally, students entering Paideia Latina already have an understanding of what nouns, verbs, and adjectives are in English sentences. This book covers: first and second declension nouns and adjectives; first and second conjugation verbs in present, imperfect, and future tenses; and the grammar of subjects, direct objects, predicate nominatives, and prepositional phrases.

Recommended for grade levels 4th through 6th. Students in 7th grade and above or students with a solid grasp of English grammar may skip Level A of the Paideia Latina series and begin with Level B.
